Brief History of Company

CPIE Pharmacy Services (CPIE) is a South Australian owned and operated registered pharmacy located at Findon, Adelaide. Our pharmacy has been supporting the local community since 1970.  Being wholly SA-owned and operated means our profits stay in South Australia and support our local economy.

In 1996, our organisation commenced operation of an aseptic compounding pharmacy. Initial focus was directed towards provision of chemotherapy compounding services to support local day oncology centres in public and private SA hospitals. Over time, CPIE has expanded to provide aseptic compounding services to support growth in the Hospital in the Home (HITH) sector. We have consolidated our business and now have a strong focus towards integrated home infusion pharmacy services, including: antimicrobial, chemotherapy, post-operative pain management, and palliative care services. We currently supply a wide range of infusion products to both public and private hospitals, and private nursing organisations, across South Australia.

CPIE operates as a registered pharmacy, adhering to associated pharmacy regulations and professional standards. We employ a number of pharmacists with expertise in compounding and clinical services. We have an onsite quality assurance (QA) manager, and also outsource to other QA providers. CPIE pharmacists are able to dispense and supply medicines directly to patients, provide patient education, and contribute to achieving quality use of medicines.

Since 2004, we have provided comprehensive pharmacy services (distribution, clinical and aseptic compounding) to Western Hospital in Henley Beach through our onsite hospital pharmacy department.

The opening of the Western Hospital Community Pharmacy in November 2012 gave us the opportunity to refocus and define our vision around a “Specialist Pharmacy” model.  Being co-located within the Hospital,  the pharmacy was developed to deliver services linked to the medical specialities of the Hospital,  which creates the opportunity to be involved in multidisciplinary management of care.  Professional pharmacy services are provided to  patients that attend the growing General Medical Practice also located on the Hospital premises.

Our pharmacy is uniquely positioned to lead the profession in the delivery of tailored professional services, while bridging the gap between the hospital and the community.
